Food for thought

Here's some food for thought for you:

"children must be taught how to think, not what to think."

At Milestones Tutoring, we believe that by teaching the student strategies to work out a problem, they can then go on to use that strategy to solve other problems.

If we were to only teach then that 1+1=2 for example they might remember that for their lifetime, but if we were to teach them that by adding a number to another makes a larger number and show them how to figure out what that number may be, they can then apply that strategy to work out any addition.

This concept applies to all learning. We believe that by teaching HOW to do something they can conquer other tasks without guidance. Such it is with life skills too.

So to end this post for the week we share another quote, "give a man a fish and he shall eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he shall eat for life." Have a great day everyone!
