Welcome to Milestones Tutoring! We are pleased to launch our new website and would like to take this opportunity to thank you. Thank you for your support and interest in our service and we hope you enjoy our blog.

Here we hope to help enhance our service to you by sharing some tips, strategies and news! We will be publishing a weekly post related to education and helpful ideas for you at home.

We would like to announce that, as the year begins, we have all our tutorial slots available. So please feel free to send through an enquiry and claim your free, no obligation consultation with one of our tutors. Alternatively, we can answer almost any question through correspondence. We offer chat, email or phone, so don't hesitate to ask! There is no such thing as a silly question here.

As the beginning of term 1 approaches, now is the time to look into tutoring if you know your child struggles with certain areas. This can give them a head start in returning to school. Some students, particularly those heading to high school this year, gain confidence in knowing that they have support in their learning before they start. This can help eliminate anxiety and stress prior to starting school, knowing that they will have someone to talk to regarding their subjects once they return.

Back to school anxiety is stressful for both the student and the parent/caregiver and can be relieved, somewhat, by some simple strategies:

Have a routine that allows them to get enough sleep.

Maintain open and honest, caring communication with them.

Create opportunities for them to approach you if they are having problems with something.

Have a plan of action for them to follow, including steps on how to reduce stress.

Make sure they have a dedicated space for learning that helps them focus on their homework and assignments.

Check in with them regularly to make sure they are coping. Some kids are really good at deflecting this. Don't push, just reassure them that you are there to help them if they need it.

I hope these tips help you on your way to going back to school. And again, welcome to Milestones Tutoring, where together we can reach them.
